Sergio Perez recently announced that he was leaving Racing Point. The announcement came a as shocked the F1 world. Questions started forming. Where is Sergio going now? Who is taking the seat at Racing Point? Answers came almost immediately.
Sebastian Vettel has signed with Racing Point, who will be rebranding as Aston Martin, for multiple years. The four time world champion hopes to help Aston Martin get to the front of the pack and challenge for podiums and championships. After the mutual agreement for Seb and Ferrari to part ways at the end of this year, speculation that the driver would join Racing Point. Soon after, talks between the two began. Both parties said it had nothing to do with Seb's availability next year.
As far as Checo's (Sergio's) future goes, there has not been any information yet. His skill and speed make him one of the best drivers in Formula 1, which means he will be courted by many teams in need of good points. He has shown that he has the ability to fight for podiums and defend positions from attacking drivers. All in all, Checo could go back to Alfa Romeo, whom he debuted with back when it was called Sauber. Other teams he could join are Haas, Red Bull, and Alpha Tauri. The last two will be harder to get into, since Red Bull usually picks drivers from its own driver pool.
How does this affect Racing Point? They now have a four time world champion to help them progress in the sport. This would obviously be a big boost to development and moral as Seb has shown time and time again his ability to win races. Usain this ability, Seb might be able to get Racing Point some good feedback, good points, and maybe get some more championships, both driver's and constructor's.
